Jupiter moons?

Question by Kara: Jupiter moons?
I believe that Jupiter has quite a few moons that orbit it and that the gravitational pulls on a couple of the moons actually cause them to switch orbital patterns occasionally. My questions are:

1) is it possible for two full-sized planets to orbit the same sun/star and occasionally switch orbital patterns?

2) If question 1 is possible, is it possible for those two planets to collide (obviously at the intersection point)?
